Our thriving & varied music programme at The Continental continuously strives to provide an exciting alternative to the ‘safe bets’ usually found at local venues, clubs, and pubs. From first rate jazz and highly regarded folk acts, to classic ‘name’ indie, punk, and new wave bands, through to world music and the cream of today’s up-and-coming cult acts, it’s a programme as diverse as it is stimulating. We champion the experimental and the offbeat.

Past headline acts have included Thurston Moore, The Wave Pictures, The Pastels, Lydia Lunch, The Magic Band, Jane Weaver, Neville Staple, Nic Jones, King Creosote, The Unthanks, John Bramwell, Luke Haines and Stuart McCallum of The Cinematic Orchestra.

We also encourage the development of local music talent by providing affordable event infrastructures, along with marketing support, to local musicians, bands, community and charity groups, and educational establishments. We create opportunities for local bands to gain confidence and exposure through support slots with higher profile acts.

They Eat Culture is committed to bringing a ‘big city’ sensibility to music programming in Preston, making quality live music from nationally and internationally recognised artists easily accessible to the community.
