‘Going up Town’ project captured the thoughts of the people of Preston on it becoming a city, rather than a town.

“What do you do up town? What do you see, what do you enjoy? How do you work, where do you play? Where do you go? What was it like when you were younger? What will it be like in 20 years time?”
“We want to know your Preston stories about the city centre and how or if it’s changed from being ‘up town’ to a city, and how you think it might change in the future. If you have something to say then we want to hear from you. ”

A series of city centre drop in sessions in early December, allowed Prestonians to see archive films about the city, and record their own stories in a private booth. The touring booth landed in 3 sites around the city The Covered Market, Harris Library and at Boots on Fishergate, allowing citizens to Pop in & tell their Preston tales.

The results of the documentary were available online and at Lancashire libraries.
